NOTE: In process to document and format.
- The commands and wizards are basic operations that it will be run by the PXE OpenGnSys client.
- The difference between a command and a wizard is in the amount of information required by the user or it is shown before to running.
- Both share the property of:
- To monitor - To see the result of the operation from classrooms->$SCOPE->actions queue option.
- To store or add the operation as a procedure and/or task.
- Before to explain the task and procedures it is necesary:
- Scope definition.
- Application scope of an action is: organizational unit, classrooms group, classrooms, computers group, computer.
- Scopes are structured in hierarchical mode.
- Scope definition.
- The tasks and procedures are used to group the basic operations (commands and wizards):
- Procedures:
- To be included as option in the clients menus.
- To be included as init operation of the OpenGnSys clients (autoexec)
- From web console as quick operation on a grouping.
- Tasks:
- To be used on a program mode from the tasks manager.
- To be used as element on the clients menu. So, you can have a private menu only on a computer, but the operation can be apply on a scope.
- Procedures:
- The procedure scope is similar to commands and wizards, in other words it is applied to the scope where it is run in a given time.
- A command, wizard and procedures, depending of the scope level where it is run, it will be applied to all children scopes.
- For this reason, it is recommended to use a computer group, for execute puntual tasks over a number of computers.
- The grouping or change the computer group can be doing:
- One by one: on a computer scope, choose option "move" and then on the desired scope, "place".
- Multiple selection from "Relocate computers" option of a classroom scope. See ticket:387
- Depending on the action to run, the operation will be run on all computers currently on (PXE og client), and others will be programmed. So that if a computer is off, at the time of turn on the operation is carried out.
- All these operations are running in the PXE OpenGnSys client and make use of:
- InterfaceAdm?
- Scripts
- API
We can evaluate any tasks and the running process in the client (InterfaceAdm?->Scripts->API) from the text console which provides the ogClient-admin or remotely by ssh or any management cluster tool with ssh.
